Add Watermark to Image

Add a watermark to a photo: text or a logo, dragged wherever you want it or tiled diagonally across the frame, then repeated over a whole folder at once.

Downloads the subject cut-out model the first time you run it, then works offline.

Photo

Your photo goes here, and the mark lands on it before it lands on a hundred more.

Photos

Drop a photo, or a folder of them

PNG, JPEG or WebP — the mark lands on your own picture first, then on the whole queue

Where it sits

Press a cell for one of the nine spots, or press the photo itself to put the mark anywhere.

Watermark type

Pick from photo reads a colour straight off the picture.

Style

12% of the photo's short side.

Placement

Tiled repeats the mark diagonally across the whole frame, so the nine cells no longer apply.

Save as

PNG is lossless and keeps transparency. JPEG and WebP are written at quality 90. Every file keeps its own name with -watermarked added.

What a touch drag does

A drag on the photo either scrolls the page or moves the mark, so pick which.

The size, the opacity and where the mark sits are remembered between visits.

How to use

  1. Drop a photo, several, or a folder into Photos. The first one shows up straight away with the default mark already on it.
  2. Stay on Text and write what the mark should say, or switch to Logo / image and add a PNG. Text sizes from 1 to 30% of the shorter side, a logo from 5 to 80% of the width.
  3. Press a cell in Where it sits, or press the photo to put the mark anywhere. Opacity moves in steps of five: 25 to 40 is a whisper, 60 and above resists a crop.
  4. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP under Save as, then press Download watermarked image. With more than one photo in, press Watermark all and then Download all (.zip).

How the mark is drawn

Two ways to mark a photo here. Type a line of text, or bring your own logo file. The text box opens on © Your Name, bold and white, at 12% of the photo's shorter side. On a 3000 × 2000 shot that is 240 pixels tall, sitting bottom right with a 50 pixel margin, and the figure under the slider tells you the height on your own photo.

Where it sits is a three by three grid of the frame: press a cell and the mark jumps to that corner or edge. Press the photo itself and the mark goes exactly there instead, and Placement flips to Dragged. Placement's third choice, Tiled, repeats the mark in staggered rows rotated 30 degrees off horizontal, which is the treatment a client proof wants. Cloning out forty copies is a very different afternoon from cloning out one.

Color starts white, with an eyedropper button beside the swatch for pulling a tone out of the photo itself. The Face menu carries sixteen typefaces, from Arial and Times through Montserrat and Merriweather to Dancing Script and Pacifico when you want the mark to read as a signature, and the four Style chips toggle bold, italic, underline and strikethrough. Bold is already on when the page loads. Text is painted with a soft dark shadow behind it, which is what keeps white lettering readable when that corner of the photo turns out to be sky.

Logo mode takes any image and sizes it against the photo's width, 25% to begin with and up to 80. A transparent PNG drops in cleanly. If what you have is a logo stranded on a white square, tick Cut the logo's background out and a segmentation model cuts the subject out before it goes on. The first time, that means a 4.4 MB model download, shown as its own step with a progress bar; after that the cut runs offline. When it can't manage a clean cut it says so and uses the logo untouched.

Pick more than one file, or drop a folder, and the whole thing turns into a batch. The first photo stays on the stage to give the mark something real to sit on, and Showing lets you check the same spot on any other photo in the queue. Watermark all applies the mark to every photo, each result lands in its own row with its own download, and Download all wraps the set as watermarked-images.zip. Single or batch, output is PNG, JPEG or WebP at quality 90, and the file keeps its old name with -watermarked added.

Marking a set of client proofs

Drop the whole shoot in one go. The first photo fills the stage; leave the text on © Your Name, set Placement to Tiled, and pull Opacity down to 25%. The preview fills with rotated copies at a strength you can see through but not paint out.

Flip Showing to a portrait shot to check the tiling there too. Watermark all stamps that same mark across every file, and shoot-014.jpg comes back as shoot-014-watermarked.jpg. Download all (.zip) collects them.

Good to know

  • A batch takes one mark at one relative spot for every photo. The size follows each photo's own short side, but there is no per-photo nudge, so check a few frames under Showing before the run.

Frequently asked questions

Can I tile the watermark across the whole photo?

Choose Tiled under Placement. The mark repeats in staggered rows rotated 30 degrees off horizontal and covers the frame corner to corner. Low opacity reads as a texture; at 40% and up it becomes the obvious proof marking.

How do I use my own logo instead of text?

Switch to Logo / image and add the file. It scales as a percentage of the photo's width, starting at 25%, and it answers to the same position, drag and tile controls the text does. A PNG with real transparency gives the cleanest edge.

My logo sits on a white background. Can that come off?

Tick Cut the logo's background out. A segmentation model runs over the logo and cuts the shape out before it is placed; the first time it downloads its 4.4 MB model as a step of its own. If the cut fails you get a warning and the logo goes on as it came.

What opacity actually works?

It depends what the mark is for. 25 to 40 percent keeps a name or a handle discreet on a finished photo. On a proof, push past 60 and put the mark near the middle, because the edges are the first thing anyone crops. The preview shows the real result on your own picture at every step.

Can I put the mark somewhere other than the nine grid spots?

Press the photo where the mark should go, or press and drag. Placement switches to Dragged and the grid lets go of its cell. The spot is kept as a fraction of the frame, so it lands in the same relative place on every photo of a batch, and Showing lets you check that on each one.

Will white lettering vanish on a bright photo?

Less often than you would think, because the text carries a soft dark shadow underneath it. Where it still struggles, the eyedropper beside the colour swatch will lift a dark tone out of the picture and use that instead.

Can I watermark a hundred photos in one pass?

Select them all at once, or drop the folder, and press Watermark all. Every file gets its own row and download link, and Download all (.zip) bundles them into watermarked-images.zip. Cancel halts the run partway through if you spot a mistake, and whatever finished is still in the zip.

Which output format should I pick?

PNG when the picture has transparency worth keeping, JPEG for the smallest file on an ordinary photograph, WebP when you want smaller still and know where it is going. Both lossy formats encode at quality 90.
